With construction of the Seoul ~ Busan KTX line, railway passenger transportation capacity will increase by 3.4 times. The conventional railroad freight transportation capacity will be increased by 7.7 times due to a conversion of the existing trains into KTX.     Expressway users will also be accommodated by KTX, thus passenger vehicles on expressways will be reduced. Construction of the Gyeongbu KTX line has achieved a reduction in time and operation-related to the scale of 240 billion won (as of 2001), thus it is forecasted to generate social and economic benefits.
